Mission:  To promote understanding of people affected by Down syndrome. Vision:  Our vision is to enhance the quality of life for people with Down syndrome and to increase knowledge and acceptance in the community.	Snak & Yak: Monthly educational/support meetings for teenagers and adults with Down syndrome and their families. Diagnosis specific conferences/workshops Periodic social events Quarterly newsletter: free publication to help members stay connected Buddy Walk: Annual fundraiser/awareness event held with NDSS New Parent Outreach Program: Updated and informative information given to new parents	Down Syndrome occurs in approximately one out of every 733 births; it is one of the most often observed chromosome abnormalities.  Scientists have investigated the cause of Down Syndrome for the past century.  So far its exact cause has eluded discovery.
